Recognising Dame Hilary Boulding’s Presidency of Trinity College

19 February 2025

Trinity College is launching a new scholarship for postgraduates in honour of its President, Dame Hilary Boulding.

This year, Dame Hilary will complete her tenure as President of Trinity. To mark her time as President and in recognition of all she has done for Trinity and its community, the college has launched a scholarship in her name.

The Dame Hilary Boulding Graduate Scholarship aims to give exceptional students an opportunity to use their talents to make a positive impact on the world.  At her request, it will support graduates working in the Humanities, with a preference, where possible, for those studying Music.

Dame Hilary says: ‘I am thrilled and honoured that the college has decided to launch an appeal to establish a graduate scholarship in my name.  Graduate students make an exceptional contribution to the academic and community life of Trinity and contribute significantly to the undergraduate experience.

‘Music helps to bind us as a community and we look to our students studying music to “make things happen”. Thanks to our benefactors, we have wonderful music facilities at Trinity—this scholarship will help us to ensure we're able to attract and support the most talented students to benefit from them.’

Expanding the college’s graduate scholarship programme occupies a vital role in the college’s Five-Year Strategy, particularly for those studying the Humanities, where external funding has been so squeezed in recent years. The College aims to create an endowment, which would fully fund the scholarship in perpetuity.
