The Dame Hilary Boulding Graduate Scholarship

Recognising a

Transformational Presidency

In recognition of Dame Hilary's remarkable commitment to Trinity and its community, the college has launched a scholarship, which aims to give generations of exceptional students an opportunity to use their talents to make a positive impact on the world.

At Dame Hilary’s request, the scholarship will support graduates working in the Humanities, with a preference, where possible, for those studying Music.

Transforming The

Graduate Experience

Expanding the college’s graduate scholarship programme occupies a vital role in the college’s Five-Year Strategy, particularly for those studying the Humanities, where external funding has been so squeezed in recent years.

Graduates are the academics, researchers and industry-leaders of the future and a key driving force behind the University’s ground-breaking research. They make an enormous contribution to college life and to the college’s reputation for academic excellence. The creation of a new scholarship in Dame Hilary’s name will help Trinity and Oxford to attract outstanding applicants, and provide funding to enable the holder to make the most of the opportunities available here.

The

Fundraising Goal

The level of support that the scholarship will offer depends on the amount that is raised.  A breakdown of the cost can be found in the brochure

Thanks to the generosity of its benefactors, the college has now reached the point at which it can create an endowment and award the scholarship, at a level that would cover all the fees of a UK DPhil student, in perpetuity.  Ultimately, the college wishes to endow the scholarship at a level that would cover both the fees and living costs of a DPhil student from anywhere in the world.

In addition to asking Old Members and Friends to support the appeal, the college has successfully applied to secure matched funding from the University.  Every donation that is received could, therefore, help to unlock an additional £580,000—together, this would endow the scholarship at the maximum level.

In order to release this funding, the appeal will need to raise £1.5 million by July 2026.  The appeal is more than 40% of the way to achieving this target.

Support

The Appeal

Graduate scholarships are a priority across the collegiate University. The college is delighted, therefore, to be able to recognise Dame Hilary’s presidency in this way and would very much like to welcome exceptional students in her name for years to come. To do so, it will rely heavily on the support of Old Members and Friends.

Donations can be made as a single gift or as a pledge over time. Each and every contribution will have an impact. Thank you.
