Professorial Title for Stephen Fisher

7 December 2021

Congratulations to Trinity Politics Fellow Stephen Fisher, who has been awarded the title of Professor of Political Sociology in the University’s Recognition of Distinction awards for 2021. The criteria for the conferment of the title of full professor include research, teaching and good citizenship.

Professor Fisher teaches Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) and History & Politics, and his research focuses on political attitudes and behaviour, especially on elections and voting in Britain and elsewhere. My recent research has included the politics of Brexit, public opinion on climate change, and ethnic differences in political attitudes and behaviour. His most recent work for the UNDP produced the world’s largest survey of public opinion on climate change ever conducted, and has been recognised for influencing public and government awareness of climate change attitudes through global media engagement.
