Clinical Specialist Advisor - Renal Medicine

Sion Williams

  • I am a specialist registrar in renal and transplant medicine.
  • I enjoy teaching on all aspects of nephrology and general medicine, particularly so about the science and evidence-base that underpins our day-to-day clinical practice.

Profile

I am a dual-training renal and general internal medicine ST7 at the Churchill Hospital, Oxford. Although I am originally from Wales, I have worked in and around Oxford for many years in various clinical and tutoring posts.

Teaching

Along with a network of other clinicians and scientists, I teach medicine to Trinity students. My day-to-day clinical work is in the Oxford Kidney Unit on the Churchill Hospital site, and this is where I most often convene for teaching and tutorials. I teach on all aspect of nephrology - acute and chronic kidney impairment, dialysis, and transplant – and tailor sessions to the needs of students so that the learning is meaningful. I am particularly interested in the science and physiology that underpin disease processes, and also in the evidence behind our clinical reasoning and decision-making.
