Profile

I am a member of the Trinity College Access team based primarily in the college's link region of the North East of England, where I work with schools and colleges, establishing relationships with teachers and school leaders in the region and working with students throughout the secondary age spectrum. Together with the Head of Access I have put together the college's teacher engagement programme in the region to ensure teachers are well equipped to support students applying to competitive universities like Oxford.

I was previously Headteacher of a 16-18 school which was part of a six-strong schools group in Hertfordshire, following a 17-year career teaching and leading in state schools in London and Oxfordshire which took in roles such as Head of Department, Head of Careers, and Head of Year 10 & 11. I then worked with the University of Oxford’s Careers Service to develop a careers education programme for schools in the North of England. My work on the pilot phase of the programme established a number of relationships with teachers and school leaders in schools and colleges with some of the most socially disadvantaged cohorts in the country.

Since moving back up to the North of England – I was born and brought up in Newcastle – I have also become a Director and School Improvement Committee Chair of a Multi Academy Trust of twelve primary schools in Northumberland and Cumbria, and Chair of Governors of a rural primary school.
