Lecturer in Physics

Olivier Lennon

  • I enjoy seeing the spark in a student that comes with understanding advanced topics. I find it particularly rewarding to have been a part of that process. I also find great importance in supporting students through what can be a challenging time in their lives.

Profile

Since the end of my DPhil in Theoretical Particle Physics (completed at St John’s College, Oxford), I have pivoted to teaching full time. I currently hold Stipendiary Lectureships at Trinity and St Catherine’s Colleges, and I also have a part-time role at Magdalen College School.

To me, the goal of physics is understanding the Universe at its most fundamental level, be it at the scale of individual particles or the cosmos. The beauty of physics is collecting as many known phenomena as possible into a single mathematical framework, and then using this model to predict new results.

Teaching

Over Michaelmas and Hilary terms this academic year, I will be teaching Mathematical Methods for Physics students at Trinity College.
