Profile

I am currently Master of St Cross, one of six graduate-only colleges in Oxford. Until 2023, I was Chief Executive at English Heritage, which I led on a journey from government body to independent charity. Before this, I was CEO at the National Trust for Scotland, a conservation charity. I have worked in various sectors including running a youth volunteering charity, a private-equity backed telephone interpreting service and a market research agency focusing on Poland. My marketing roles were with an international language school group and various book publishing firms. I live in the hills in Wales with the husband I met on my first day at Trinity (author Andrew Williams) and we have two sons.
