Profile

I am a GP in Headington and work as a part of the MDT at the Chronic Pelvic Pain Team at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

I gained my MBBS from King’s College London and obtained a first class intercalated BSc in Sports and Exercise Science at Loughborough University.  Whilst at medical school I completed an SSC in Peer Assisted Learning which sparked my interest in medical education.  I completed my foundation years in London including a rotation in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In my ‘F3’ year completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education before working in Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, gaining further experience of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Medicine in a diverse population and different healthcare system.

During my GP training I obtained my DRCOG further pursuing my interest in Women’s Health during 6 months in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Oxford.

No two days are the same in General Practice, there is huge variety in the cases seen, challenges faced and ultimately the chance to get to know patients thanks to the continuity of care that community based medicine permits.  GP additionally allows one to develop areas of specialist interest which for me is Medical Education and Women’s Health.

Teaching

In my role as a Clinical Advisor to Trinity Students I will cover a wide range of topics relevant to General Practice and Women’s Health.  I utilise skills learn during my Postgraduate Certificate in Medical education to create interactive small group teaching sessions with clear objectives, case-based examples with relevant questions and discussions encouraged throughout the session.
