Profile

After completing my undergraduate degree at Trinity, I qualified at the Bar Inner Temple. I then joined the Diplomatic Service and served in London and Japan. Subsequently, I moved to the investment bank Morgan Grenfell Ltd, where I specialised in business in East Asia, spending several years in Hong Kong and Singapore.

Since retirement, my main interests have been oil painting, languages and history, and I spend much of my time reading and painting. I maintain close links with Trinity and have supported various projects and causes, in particular medical research. I am also working on setting up a learning centre in Barrow-in-Furness to help disadvantaged children get into a good university to study a STEM subject.
