Year 12 Shadowing Day

Following our successful first event in 2023, Trinity College have again teamed up with the University's African and Caribbean Society and Brasenose College to offer year 12 state school students from African and Caribbean backgrounds another exciting access day.

Date: Thursday 8 February 2024

Time: 9:30am - 5pm

Venue: Trinity College, University of Oxford

Join the Oxford ACS for a Shadowing Day in collaboration with Trinity and Brasenose Colleges, University of Oxford. This day is aimed at Year 12 state school students from African and Caribbean backgrounds interested in applying to Oxford for undergraduate study. Students will have the opportunity to visit Oxford and shadow a current undergraduate who studies a subject they are interested in applying for as well as academic taster lectures. 

This event is for Year 12 students from state schools, and we expect to receive many applications for a place on this day, so please apply asap. If oversubscribed, we'll prioritise places for those who are eligible for free school meals, care experienced, and/or first in the family to go to university.

Current programme for the day (may be subject to changes):

  • 9:30am Arrival and registration, Trinity College 
  • 10:00am Welcome from Trinity and Oxford ACS
  • 10:30am Academic taster lecture (2/3 choices) 
  • 11:45am Trinity lunch + tours 
  • 12:30pm JCR to meet shadowing pair 
  • 2:30pm Admissions Talk
  • 3:45pm Tea and Q&A at Brasenose College with second college tours 
  • 5:00pm End of day

Logistics, funding and applying

Students will be provided with lunch in Trinity College dining hall. Some help with travel reimbursements may be provided on a discretionary basis. 

Students should complete THIS FORM to request a place on this day by the 15th of January 2024We will then be in touch to let you know if we can offer places to your students within 10 working days (excluding Christmas vacation period) or by the 22nd of January 2024.
