Trinity College: Ukraine Information and Support

3 March 2022

Trinity College and its community continue to follow with shock and sadness the devastating events in Ukraine following its invasion by Russia. It is heartbreaking to watch the unfolding humanitarian catastrophe in Ukraine and beyond, and our thoughts are with all those who are directly impacted. It is particularly worrying for those in our community who have family or loved ones in the Ukraine, Russia and other territories affected.

This is a highly distressing time for all of us and we encourage our community to come together and support each other, as we look to the future with hope for peace. Like many colleges, Trinity is working to provide welfare support to students and staff who have been affected by developments in Ukraine, as well as providing financial support where necessary. Both the University and colleges are working to ensure all members of the University community are supported as much as possible, and will respond as appropriate as the situation develops.

Along with other Oxford colleges, Trinity is part of discussions taking place with the Council for At-Risk Academics about supporting academics impacted in Ukraine, and our MCR and JCR are working to raise funds for those affected.

How to help

Many of us feel the need to contribute constructively in the face of such distressing events. We are proud of the efforts already underway by those across the university and wider Oxford community to support those affected by this crisis. There are a number of ways our community can help, including:

There are many more organisations working to provide support. The Ukrainian Institute in London has developed a further list of suggested ways to help.

The Oxford Ukrainian Society is posting regular updates and call for support; you can follow them on Twitter.

Further information about support for students and staff offered by the University can be found on its page of response to the invasion of Ukraine

Educate yourself

As a college of the University of Oxford, we at Trinity take pride in being an international community, and we celebrate our ability to speak freely to one another about the most serious issues that face society. Oxford has a wide range of leading thinkers on Ukraine and surrounding areas, and a number of academic events are being planned to discuss the situation. You can find these on the University's Ukraine page; some of those of interest including contributions from our own community members include:
