Trinity College Achieves Beyond Gold Recognition

25 June 2026

Trinity College has once again been recognised with a Green Impact Beyond Gold Award, the highest level of accreditation within the University of Oxford's Green Impact programme. This prestigious award celebrates teams that have embedded sustainability into their everyday practices and demonstrated exceptional leadership.

The award recognises Trinity's continued commitment to environmental sustainability across college operations, estate management and community engagement. Over the past year, the College has advanced a range of initiatives to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency and strengthen environmental governance. Recent projects include the installation of a ground source heat pump serving accommodation and meeting spaces, air source heat pumps at off-site properties, and ongoing building fabric improvements designed to reduce energy demand.

Commenting on the award, Lynne Adam, Domestic Bursar at Trinity College, said: "Achieving Beyond Gold recognition is a testament to the sustained efforts of our staff, students and Fellows to place sustainability at the heart of college life. This award reflects the collective commitment of our community and the progress we have made in reducing our environmental impact. We are delighted to see these efforts recognised and remain committed to building on this success in the years ahead."

Green Impact is an award-winning programme that supports staff and students in taking practical action to improve sustainability within departments, buildings and colleges across the University. Teams work through a toolkit of actions aligned with the University's Environmental Sustainability Strategy, with Beyond Gold recognising those that go significantly beyond the core requirements.

Trinity's success reflects the collaborative efforts of staff, students and members of its Sustainability Committee, whose work continues to embed sustainable thinking across college life. The College joins a select group of Oxford teams achieving Beyond Gold status and serves as an example of how sustained action and community engagement can deliver meaningful environmental progress.
