Sustainability-themed Images Win Photography Awards

27 June 2025

Two members of Trinity College have won awards at the University’s Sustainability Photographer of the Year awards.

Facilities Officer Sara Reevell won third place for her photo of a murmuration of starlings in the Oxford Business Park, while DPhil student Lars Bathe-Peters was named runner-up for his photo of a squirrel dangling off the edge of a pool to drink.

This year’s competition was on the theme ‘It made me think,’ and invited participants to share images that inspire reflection and spark conversation around sustainability. More than 140 entries were received in this year’s competition, and the awards were announced at the University’s Sustainability End of Year celebration at Osler House on 19 June.

Sara Reevell says of her image: ‘The fantastic experience which is the murmuration of starlings. Happening in the tress bordering a car park in the Business Park just off the Cowley Rd. It is an amazing sight, especially in such an urban setting - the speed of movement and build-up of numbers of birds, the shapes they create.’
