Rai Sengupta Represents Oxford at the Winter School 2022

Trinity MCR member Rai Sengupta was recently selected to represent the University of Oxford at the Winter School an international conference organized by the Europaeum Network and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra.

Rai was one of 25 students selected across 18 leading European universities to take part in the conference on the theme of ‘planetary wellbeing.’ Hosted in Barcelona, it brought together climate experts, policy practitioners and sustainability specialists. Conference participants engaging in team discussions and group work with a focus on debating the role and impact of higher education institutions in the transition towards sustainability.

Asked about experience at the Winter School, Rai Sengupta says: ‘It was great to be able to build upon my experience of leading events at COP 26 in Glasgow and contribute my insights to the discussion on how the concept of planetary wellbeing could be integrated into the everyday working lives of students, professors, and faculty members across universities, through concrete and actionable steps. Further, as a researcher from India - I was happy to share my perspectives from the Global South to this international conference focused on sustainability and youth-led climate action in Europe.’

Rai Sengupta is an MSc student at the Department of Social Policy and Intervention and is a Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Scholar at Oxford.
