Outstanding Teaching and Citizenship Award for Steve Sheard

12 August 2021

Trinity Engineering Fellow Steve Sheard has been recognised for his outstanding contribution to teaching in the Engineering department. Students and faculty from the Department of Engineering Science were asked to nominate academics for departmental teaching awards. Awards were made by the Excellence in Teaching and Citizenship Committee, made up of faculty and students, based on feedback on teaching and citizenship as well as the nominations from undergraduates, postgraduates and faculty.

Professor Sheard was given a Bronze Award for delivering outstanding lectures and teaching related citizenship. He says: ‘It is nice to get a prize for teaching, but what makes it special is to be nominated by our students who have adapted so well to online teaching this academic year.  Teaching and learning is very much a team effort.’

Engineering Head of Department Professor Ron Roy said of this year’s awards: ‘Congratulations to those who received one of our highly competitive teaching awards this year. The outstanding way the faculty have responded to the difficulties pandemic underlines the commitment our academics have to delivering a world class education to our students’.
