Netball Cuppers Champions

A huge congratulations to Trinity Women, who defeated Brasenose 23–20 in the Netball Cuppers Final at Magdalen College School to bring home the title.

At the beginning of 1933, three graduates of Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki and Henryk Zygalski, succeeded in breaking the German Enigma cipher. Their pioneering work laid the foundations for later achievements of Alan Turing and the Bletchley Park cryptanalysts, who broke the modified Enigma system during the Second World War.

For generations, the four statues atop Trinity College chapel have formed part of Oxford’s historic skyline, watching over Broad Street from one of the city’s most recognisable towers. Representing the quadrivium (the four medieval disciplines of astronomy, geometry, medicine and theology) the figures have stood above the College since the chapel was completed in the 1690s. Now, after centuries exposed to the elements, the statues have deteriorated to the point where replacement has become necessary for safety reasons.
