Catherine McMullan, a History undergraduate at Trinity College, is part of the five-student team behind Ictus, which won the £10,000 top prize at StEP's 2026 Demo Day last month. The startup is developing a wearable device for low-cost epileptic seizure detection. In the interdisciplinary team, Catherine is joined by Engineering Science undergraduates Elizaveta Verzhbitskaya and Vivian Lui, Biology undergraduate Nancy Locke and Nanotechnology postgraduate Arya Navab.

Research at the University of Oxford, lead by Trinity’s Dr. Daniel Long and supervised by Prof. Felix Hofmann, has developed a new model that could help engineers better assess the risk of hydrogen embrittlement in components used for hydrogen-powered aircraft.

Trinity College’s Jackson Building has won Best Low Carbon Building of the Year at the 2026 Oxford Property Awards, recognising the College’s ambitious project to decarbonise one of its historic listed buildings.

The award was presented at the OxProp Awards ceremony at Keble College on Thursday 10 September, attended by more than 400 people from across Oxfordshire’s property and built-environment sectors.
