Richard Hillary Lecture: Alan Hollinghurst

The Richard Hillary Memorial Lecture remembers Richard Hillary, the author of The Last Enemy, who was an Old Member of Trinity. Recent lecturers have included Philip Pullman, Howard Jacobson, Andrew Motion, Carol Ann Duffy, Simon Armitage and Tom Stoppard.

Alan Hollinghurst was born in 1954, and read English at Magdalen College, Oxford.  He is the author of six novels, including The Swimming-Pool Library (1988), The Line of Beauty, which won the 2004 Man Booker Prize, The Stranger's Child (2011) and The Sparsholt Affair (2017).  He lives in London.
