J M Q DAVIES attended Greek schools during his childhood in Thessaloniki and read Modern Greek and German at Trinity before pursuing an academic career in English and Comparative Literature, teaching at the Universities of California, Alberta, Melbourne, Darwin and Waseda. He is the author of a monograph, Blake’s Milton designs: the dynamics of meaning (1993), has edited a collection of essays, Bridging the gap: literary theory in the classroom (1994), and written articles on modern fiction, literary theory, fantasy and new literatures in English.
