North East Residentials 2020

North East Open Day Residential for Students 30th June-2nd July:

This residential is designed to support NE students in attending our University Open Days in July completely free of charge.

Year 12 students will travel to and from Oxford together by coach. There will be two coach pick-up points in central Newcastle and Darlington. They will stay for two nights in college accommodation and have all meals catered for in the college dining halls. We will run sessions on Oxford applications and how to make the most of the Open Day, as well as offering Q&A and discussion sessions with undergraduates. There will also be plenty of opportunities to speak to students more informally while travelling on the coach, at meal times and during undergraduate-led social activities in the evenings. Students will attend the Open Day on 1st July and are free to organise this part of the residential independently.

Students can register their interest by filling in this form. The closing date for applications is Friday 3rd April. Should this event be oversubscribed, we will prioritise places based on GCSE attainment and predicted A Level grades in the context of widening participation factors.

North East Teacher Conference 30th June-2nd July:

This residential is designed to support NE teachers who have responsibility for, or a role in, the UCAS application process and/or supporting candidates to make an application to Oxbridge or other selective universities. It will be led by Trinity’s Head of Access, Hannah Rolley.

Teachers will stay for two nights in college accommodation and have all meals catered for, including a welcome dinner with Trinity’s President, Dame Hilary Boulding. Hannah will run sessions covering the Oxford application process, what makes a competitive application, the personal statement, the teacher reference and useful enrichment activities, alongside Q&A sessions. They will also receive guidance on the best events to attend on the Open Day for teachers, for example mock interview sessions. We can offer free travel to and from the NE on the coach or teachers can opt to make their own way down but please note, we are unable to fund this independent travel.

If you would like to sign up to this event, please fill in this form as soon as possible. The closing date for applications is Friday 3rd April. Should this event be oversubscribed, priority will be given to those teachers from schools with low progression to HE/Oxbridge.
