Welcome (Back) to Trinity!

6 October 2021

It’s Freshers Week in college, which means the start of a new term and academic year in Oxford. This year Trinity’s new undergraduate and postgraduate students will be joined by a new Senior Tutor, Rebecca Bullard, who took up the post in September. She shares a message to all freshers and returning students this week ahead of the official start of the academic term next week:

‘As Trinity’s new Senior Tutor, I’m so pleased to be able to welcome you to College at the start of the new academic year. It has been wonderful over the past two days to meet new and returning students. Our undergraduates and graduates are at the heart of this academic community, and the College really feels as though it’s come alive now that you are back in residence.

‘One of the most important aspects of my job as Senior Tutor is to support our undergraduates in their academic work while they are studying with us. I hope to meet and to start to get to know many of you over the coming weeks. Your tutor(s) will remain your most important point of contact throughout your degree, but you are always welcome to come to talk to me in confidence about any aspect of your studies, or about ways of balancing your academic work with other commitments. The pandemic has had a significant impact on every aspect of life over the past year and a half, including on the way we work. As a College, we want to support you so that you can enjoy your studies to the fullest extent, and fulfil your academic potential.

‘I am very fortunate that my predecessor as Senior Tutor, Professor Valerie Worth, will continue to play a central role in college life here at Trinity. She remains as Tutor for Graduates, overseeing the work of postgraduate students and postdoctoral associates. Valerie and I will work closely together to help ensure that Trinity is an academic community in which every member is valued and can participate in full. I am very excited to begin work with Valerie, with the rest of the Fellowship here at College, and with you, our brilliant students.’

Student can find more information about the support available to them on the college website’s Study and Support pages.
