A dramatized reading of Montaigne’s Essayes, organized by Stefano Evangelista, Fellow and Tutor in English, will take place at Trinity on the afternoon of 4 February.
The reading will be followed by an opportunity to see Trinity’s copy of Florio’s translation of the Essayes, published in 1632. All are welcome to attend.
Michel de Montaigne (1533-92) was a French writer and philosopher, whose Essayes established a new literary form. The collection was first published in French in 1580–88, and translated into English by John Florio in 1603.
