Susan Perkin, Fellow and Tutor in Chemistry, has been awarded a Leverhulme Trust grant to fund a project in her lab over the next three and a half years.
The grant will provide £240k to employ a post-doctoral researcher and a student, to study the structure of liquids in electric fields and between graphene electrodes. The award follows a recent ERC Starter Grant of €1.5 million awarded to Dr Perkin to fund a programme of research investigating the use of electric and magnetic fields.
‘This is very fundamental study which should lead to underpinning knowledge supporting the ERC project; the two projects will complement each other and together should be greater than the sum of their parts. I am delighted with this additional award which will facilitate a strong research focus over the next few years.’
