Trinity College Honorary Visiting Fellow Judge Theodor Meron has been awarded the honour of Honorary Companion of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George (CMG). This high honour has been conferred by The Queen in recognition of Judge Meron’s services to criminal justice and international humanitarian law.
Judge Meron says of the award: ‘This is a reflection of British recognition of the vital importance of criminal justice and international humanitarian law at a time when so many atrocities against civilians continue unabated and, for this, I am very grateful.’
Judge Meron continues to serve as a Judge for the United Nations International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals, and he will deliver the keynote speech at the United Nations Holocaust Memorial Ceremony at the UN on 27 January 2020.
