Trinity College President Dame Hilary Boulding has been elected a Fellow of the Learned Society of Wales. She is one of 48 new fellows who have made outstanding contributions to the world of learning as researchers, academics, and professionals and who have a strong connection to Wales.
Dame Hilary was elected for her contributions to the arts, broadcasting and the education sector in Wales. She previously led the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama as Principal from 2007-2017, overseeing course programmes that were ranked top in the UK subject league tables for four years. She has also been a member of a number of public bodies including the Broadcasting Advisory Panel of the Welsh Government; the Welsh Government Review of Arts in Education in Wales. Her previous roles include Principal of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, she has also served as Head of Arts and Music for BBC Wales. In the 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours, Hilary was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) ‘for services to education and culture in Wales.’
