The Gryphon Society has held a debate on Britain’s membership of the EU, with The Hon Jacob Rees-Mogg MP (1988) amongst the speakers.
Mr Rees-Mogg, who studied History at Trinity, joined seven current students speaking to the motion This house believes that membership of the EU is an unjustifiable infringement on UK sovereignty. A large audience filled Hall for the occasion, with the debate and questions conducted in friendly good humour.
For the motion were Jacob Rees-Mogg MP, Phoebe McGibbon, Bishan Morgan and Freddie Hopkinson; against were Tom Kirk, Armen Bodossian, Harry Macpherson, and Henrique Laitenberger. The debate was chaired by Tim Sharpe.
