20.05.2013 | Dam Busters' 70th anniversary commemoration

A service took place in Chapel on Friday 17 May to commemorate the Seventieth Anniversary of the Dambusters’ raid. Trinity alumnus Melvin ‘Dinghy’ Young (1934) was the only Oxford man to take part in the raid. The service was preceded by an exhibition of Melvin Young memorabilia from the college archives.

At 9.00 am on Saturday in the Chapel, senior organ scholar Benjamin Morrell, and William Heywood, Organ Scholar of Harris Manchester College, began a physically and mentally challenging test: a twenty-four hour Organ Marathon.

25.04.2013 | Inspirational Teacher Honoured by the University

Of the many students each year who are inspired by staff at their schools and colleges to make applications to the University of Oxford, Cathy Mason (2012, Philosophy and Theology) has been able to show her gratitude to one of her former teachers, Karen Kelly, who was honoured as an inspirational teacher by the University this week. Cathy nominated Ms Kelly, who taught her Philosophy at Wootton Upper School, a state academy in Bedford.

22.04.2013 | Trinity appears in Endeavour

Trinity has featured in the latest episode of Endeavour, the new detective series 'prequel' to Inspector Morse, broadcast last night. The College featured extensively, including many shots taken from the chapel roof, and the fifteenth-century Old Library was used as a 'stand in' for  Duke Humfrey's Library in the Bodleian. The programme can be seen on ITV Player (until 19 May, in the UK only).

It is with great sadness that the college learned of the death, on 12 April, of Sir John Burgh, President from 1987-1996 and Honorary Fellow. Details of a memorial service will be announced in due course.

An important occasion has been marked in Trinity with the admission of Professor Jonathan Mallinson, Fellow and Tutor in French, as Senior Proctor of the University.

04.03.2013 | OUTREACH UPDATE

Trinity has welcomed groups from two schools, Central Sussex College in Haywards Heath, and St Thomas More Catholic School in Stoke, during their February half term breaks. These visits were run by the Access and Admissions Officer, Robert Hyland, with the aim of introducing Trinity and the University to groups of Year 12 students who will be making applications to university in the next academic year.
