2006's Committee

The JCR Committee are elected by the student body to act as their primary representatives. They are responsible for overseeing the most important aspects of JCR life, and each officer has a vote on the JCR committee.

President

Kushal Banerjee (kushal.banerjee@trinity.ox.ac.uk)

Hey ho my name is Kush and Im Trinitys JCR President for 2006. I do all sorts of things for the JCR, come to think of it I do all sorts of things in generalYou can keep track of what the President is doing for you on the Presidents Corner section of the Committee page. Youll see what meetings etc. Im toddling along to and what goes on behind those big oak panelled doors/flimsy cardboard doors depending on where Ive gone to. I seem to have a lot of time (to dedicate to being President obviously) so if theres something youd like done (in a JCR sense rather than essay sense) or you just have a query or something along those lines then Im the man for the job!! And if Im not the man for the job, Im getting very good at shifting things onto other people and will hopefully be able to point you in the right direction!

Treasurer

Matt Lawes (matthew.lawes@trinity.ox.ac.uk)

The Treasurer's main responsibility lies in the management of the JCR's funds. This includes making the outgoing payments, ensuring we have an income and, of course, making sure that the accounts of the JCR are always in order. The everyday privileges you enjoy, such as Sky, games machines, newspaper subscriptions, etc. are courtesy of your friendly, neighbourhood Treasurer! Besides these stereotypes, as a member of the executive committee, I endeavour to represent your views accurately and effectively to the College's governing body. I am also a handy point of contact for any matters relating to financial aid (e.g. grants or loans). Rest assured that I will respect the confidentiality of your matters. Don't hesitate to get in touch by e-mail, phone or in person

Secretary

Richard Cappin (richard.cappin@trinity.ox.ac.uk)

Hi, I'm Richard, the JCR Secretary for 2006. I'm here to deal with a lot of often quite important but unexciting things. I coordinate and distribute photos for matriculation, sports teams and JCR dinner. With Mandy Giles, the College Accomodation Manager I organise both the 1st Year Room Ballot and 2nd & 3rd Year Housing Ballots. Also, I'm here to help anyone with motions for JCR General Meetings, so if want more information on writing or submitting motions, just let me know.

Men's Welfare

Thomas Prescott (thomas.prescott@trinity.ox.ac.uk)
Tom Mayo (thomas.mayo@trinity.ox.ac.uk)

The Toms are a second year mathematician, who you may recognise as being the founding member of FNUK and a shining light in the Trin Jazz Band. You'll probably find Tom in 12/6 or in the White Horse on a Sunday afternoon. Tom enjoys nothing more than a nice pint in a smoky hole of a pub followed by dancing with Kofi Annan or some Danish agriculturists in some ludicrously cheap and nasty club. Redefining the concept of manliness for the new millennium, Tom is an awful sportsman who would play seconds football if only lectures didn't get in the way. Tom is looking forward immensely to dispensing discreet free condoms and worldly wisdom in equal measure, and he's definitely into bringing the Thursday curry-then-filth institution back to life. We're Tom. There's two of us.

Women's Welfare

Kirsten Armstrong (kirsten.armstrong@trinity.ox.ac.uk)
Katherine Grailey (kate.grailey@trinity.ox.ac.uk)

Hi, were Kirsten and Kate, your womens welfare reps. We want to make sure that your time at Trinity is as happy and stress-free as possible, so do get in contact if you would like some help with any concerns, worries or questions, or even if you just feel like a chat. We each have welfare hours throughout the term (Sundays 3-4) when you can talk to us in confidence about anything on your mind, but feel free to contact us outside of these times. We are responsible for stocking the womens welfare box (currently in the beer cellar toilets) with information, female hygiene and lubricant, and can easily arrange to deliver free rape alarms, pregnancy tests and condoms to you if you get in contact with either of us. We also organise a variety of different welfare nights to satisfy all tastes and to hopefully give you a chance to get to know all the Trinity girlies. Once again, dont hesitate to get in touch if theres anything we can do to help, or if you have any suggestions for future nights out! xx

Entz

Louise Corfield (louise.corfield@trinity.ox.ac.uk)
Katie Cornthwaite (katie.cornthwaite@trinity.ox.ac.uk)

We're Louise and Katie, your new Entz reps. Hopefully you know us already but if not you'll see us about in a boat in the river, at a bop masked by ridiculous costumes, in a club / beer cellar in an upright and sober state, or in 13-6 where you can come and tell us what you want us to do for you. We would welcome any suggestions you have for any future entz events and have started work on some of our own plans. We're always up for a laugh and promise to organise the best nights out we can for you, provided you create some decent gossip for the mornings after.

NUS/OUSU

Gorav Wali (gorav.wali@trinity.ox.ac.uk)

I'm a second year medic, hockey captain, was a RAG rep, and now your new OUSU rep....(yay!)...I'll go to all the long, boring OUSU meetings for you, representing your point of view, and will report back with the relevant information. OUSU provides a variety of different of services for students, which if you want to find out more about, I'll be more than happy to tell you. Any queries, just contact me (drop me an e-mail, see me in st.3rm.10, carrier pigeon, etc, etc... ), I tend to be easy to find.

Academic Affairs

Charlotte Bendon (charlotte.bendon@trinity.ox.ac.uk)

Hi, I'm Charlotte, your shiny new Academic Affairs Rep! I'm a 2nd year medical student here to look after all your academic needs. Having problems with managing your workload, difficulties with tutors, thinking about changing subject, or just wanting a listening ear? Well I'm the girl you're looking for. I'm friendly and approachable, and I won't bite. Unless provoked!

Diversity

Ben Lee (ben.lee@trinity.ox.ac.uk)

Hey, I'm Ben, your Diversity Rep. With the support of the Diversity Committee, my job is to look after the interests of minority groups in Trinity. Were here to make sure that everyone is equally represented, and to provide support and information on a variety of welfare issues. Lots of useful information can be found in the Diversity pages under the Welfare section of the JCR website. Hopefully youll never need to, but if you have any problems, worries or questions, dont hesitate to get in touch with me or the members of the Diversity Committee. Im also a Peer Supporter so Im more than happy to help out with any problems diverse or not! You can contact me by email, phone (34217) or by popping over to Rawly Flat 40.

"The Junior Officers" of the JCR are appointed to fulfill various specialised roles in College. They do not have the same rights as elected committee members, but they ensure that whatever a student's problem, there is someone to try and answer it for them.
